A Big Thank you on Ri(t)ch Styles 12th Blogversary!

I completed 12 beautiful years of my blogging journey yesterday. From 2009 to 2021 - it's been quite a ride! A journey which I started alone, but along the way these 2 joined me at different points, became a vital part of it all and have made it even more memorable. Aryaa definitely is the best business partner ever, and you will have to agree that the cutest business partner one can have. Prateek's support has undeniably a huge huge role to play.

10 Reasons Why You Must Sail The Genting Dream! - Part 1

*Happy Warning - This is a picture heavy post!

Having been lucky enough to have sailed the Genting Dream cruise, this is something I recommend everyone to experience! Such experiences stay with you for life, especially if the reasons are as mind blowing as the ones I am going to talk about in this post. I still can't get over the magnanimity of the vessel and what I felt, when I first saw Genting Dream docked at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal at Hong Kong - it was like a ship out of my dreams and my excitement knew no bounds! I was going to sail the Hong Kong high seas for 2 days before returning back to Hong Kong, and having heard so much about the Genting Dream, it was a trip I was totally looking forward to. Sailing on a cruise ship was not new to me as I had done it in India about 10 years ago, but this was just something else! From zip lining over the sea, to enjoying some great shows, to dining at some of the finest restaurants on board, the 2 days just whizzed by in a jiffy, yet gave me some of the most beautiful memories to cherish!

Wedding Season Diaries : The Banarasi Lehenga

When Sabyasachi Mukherjee launched his ‘Banarasi Bride’ collection in 2015, I was so in awe that I immediately decided that my next lehenga would be a Banrasi one! Come December, my cousin was getting married and so I got the perfect chance to get this beautiful pink, gold and blue rich Banarasi lehenga made for myself.

Wedding Season Diaries : The Gown Lehenga

The lehenga is an irreplaceable part of any Indian wedding. I can't survive any wedding without donning one. Over the years I have experimented with different styles and the variation I am currently loving is the Gown Lehenga. The Gown Lehenga is a trendy variation of the traditional lehenga where the short choli has been replaced by a long kalidar kurta. I think it looks pretty and is the perfect combination of Indian and Western aesthetics.

Wedding Season Diaries : Flaunt A Saree

The wedding season is back, and for the first time on the blog I have a series of outfit posts coming up to show you what I have been wearing to different weddings over the last one year. The roundup is of my favourite ones and you will have seen them on social media in bits in pieces, but now I will be sharing all of them with you through individual posts. I am starting with something that is timeless and I love wearing - the Saree! It's graceful, it's elegant and it makes a woman look absolutely beautiful. For me the classic style is my go to style but in terms of materials and embroideries, I do pick up quite a variety. Weddings call for bright colours with intricate embellished work and some bling, and that is what I have in mind while picking up my sarees or getting them made. The look here is from the Sangeet ceremony of a family wedding.

Zoya Jewellery Styling Evening

Happy Dhanteras!

Diwali is here and the celebrations are on! For me Dhanteras is special because it's all about going and getting yourself that particular piece or maybe pieces ;-) of jewellery that you have been eyeing without worrying about permissions. You can't say no to gold today! In fact if you are lucky enough, then the husband or the parents will land up buying you that piece :) For me that one piece currently is from the house of Zoya by Titan.

Finding Meaning in Fashion Blogging

This week, many IFB bloggers sought to go deeper than the #OOTD, with shout outs to philanthropic organizations including Scotty’s House and To Write Love on Her Arm—plus we heard some compelling personal stories. Other posts tackled diversity in magazines, the “new sexual revolution,” and older women’s right to wear leggings. On the lighter side, we have our fair (and necessary) share of fashion and beauty tips, trend pieces and news bites. All around, it’s a well-balanced collection of fashion blogger fare. I hope you enjoy! And if your post was chosen, please don’t forget to post the LALM roundup on your own blog (see instructions below)!

A brand new year!

Happy 2015 everyone!

2014 ended on a note of mixed feelings for me. Why you may wonder. Well, because it flew by too quickly and when a really good year just flies by, you don't really want it to end. It was the best year of my life, coz it gave me Aryaa :-) Motherhood is the most divine feeling you will ever come across, incomparable to any other! Along with Aryaa so many other related great things happened - from PS and me being a couple to becoming a family, our parents becoming grandparents, the sense of responsibility I associated with my life grew by leaps and bounds because I am also responsible for a new life now, and I also feel like a better person due to small but substantial changes that Aryaa has brought along, be it simple things like patience or calmness. Existing people in my life especially my parents have been the strongest pillars, and family and friends have only bonded further. I've also met loads of new amazing people without whom this year wouldn't have ended on such a great note. Over all I'm grateful for what the year has been for me personally. Looking forward to 2015 which is going to be another memorable one with my little one in tow :-D

Professionally also the year has been great, and looks to only getting better this year! On this front too I am thankful for the trust and faith placed in me by my clients and the brands and agencies I have associated with.

I really want to say a bigggg Thank You to all the people who have been by my side through it all! :-)

I have in mind quite some plans for Ri(t)ch Styles for 2015 and I am going to be sharing a few of them with you:

  • There is going to be a whole new look and feel to the blog and all the branding
  • There is going to be a greater focus on beauty and travel than in the previous years
  • I have loads of drafted posts as well as shoots done but no posts done - I am going to get around posting those even though they are from the year gone by cause they are worth sharing! My pregnancy had slowed me down, but I am getting around to getting back in full speed now!
  • Videos are going to make a comeback as well as be regular
  • And more which you have to wait and watch ;-)

For now, hope you guys also have some great plans for the year ahead which hopefully will materialize for all. Amen to that! Have a great 2015 and I will see you again soon with loads in store for 2015! Cheers to the new year! Mwah!

Celebrations at Shazé!

Christmas is here and it's time to bring out some holiday cheer! Time to toast to the year gone by and to the good times ahead! Also time to toast to my dear Aanam's blog What When Wear turning 3 in style with Shazé's latest launches!

Shazé is a premium lifestyle brand with gift options ranging from fashion jewellery designed in Italy which it launched recently, scarves in soft Yak wool, sunglasses, watches to home décor that also includes adorably cute baby stuff (you know why baby stuff is so dear to me these days!). My favourites are all laid out below for you to check out and desire!

Well well well, what did I tell you? Gorgeous aren't they? But I ain't done yet :-) The best part that I loved is yet to come.

Shazé's latest jewellery campaign which has just been launched - The ‘Un Occasion’ Campaign, is all about dispelling the thought process that only occasions such as Diwali, Christmas, birthdays or anniversary’s call for buying gifts. Infact Shazé’s jewellery range is fit for any occasion and every mood, anytime time of the year, just how I like it. I dress up everyday without waiting for a special day or raison d'être cause I believe in making every day an ocassion! Do you still need any other reason to get going and gift yourself a pretty piece my dearies? ;-)

Shazé is available in Mumbai at their store on Hughes Road, and pan India through stand alone stores, shop in shops and on their online store.

What When Wear, all the best for lots more years and loads of success!

Product Review: MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder

You all must be using pressed powders of some brand or the other for the simple reason that it is one of the most basic but much required items in our regular make-up routine. For those of you who don't, I would strongly recommend including one in your routine because it does the simple job of evening out your skin tone along with other benefits. Today I'm reviewing the MAC select sheer pressed powder, which I have been using for the last four and a half  years and is my go to pressed powder for the perfect look.

MAC+Select+Sheer+Pressed+Powder

MAC+Select+Sheer+Pressed+Powder

I have dry skin which requires a light pressed powder and not a heavy one which can mattify the skin too much making it look drier. The MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder fits my requirement perfectly as it is super light, sheer, silky(I love the feel of it on my skin), not at all chalky(micro-fine) and has the ability to last on the skin for over 6 hours of use, keeping the skin looking fresh and flawless. For a person like me, who mostly has no time for touch-ups and likes the natural look, it is the most suitable pressed powder to carry in one’s make-up pouch. I was introduced to this powder when I started preparations for my trousseau make-up kit for my wedding. Budget wasn't the constraint and since I'd been using MAC eye shadows and lipsticks from earlier, I knew I didn't need to worry about the quality of something that would probably last on my face all day. In my 5th year of use now, this is one product that I buy again and again and haven't found a better product to replace it, as it qualifies the most important requirement of my day make up for me i.e provides me the absolute natural look while covering all flaws, fine lines and last for over 6 hours. It does a great job of keeping my skin looking matte without drying it. Also it sets my foundation and concealer perfectly without making me look over the top when I need to use it over them.

The best way to use it would be over your sunscreen or moisturizer for light coverage, or over your foundation for a finished look. There is a puff provided or use a powder brush.

It is priced at INR 1650 for 12 gms and comes in 13 shades, so you are sure to find a match. Just make sure you check whether you are a cool or a warm skin shade and then accordingly buy the right NC or NW shade. Also if you have a lot of marks on your skin, I will not recommend it. Then you need to go for a heavier pressed powder.

For people with dry skin like me, this is just the thing you need. Try it and am sure you will love it!

I also wanted to share with you guys that MAC products are now available on Flipkart (that too on discount!!) and you can use Flipkart coupons at CupoNation to get further discounts. Cool isn't it! Here are all the MAC products currently available on Flipkart - http://goo.gl/p6ZhH0

On the savings note, who doesn't look for discounts and promotional deals when shopping or travelling, or for that matter in today's world before spending money on most things? To get some mind blowing discounts, one of my most recommended sites to you would be CupoNation, one of the largest aggregators of online deals and discount coupons in India. The best part is, you can find the amazing deals of your favorite and best online shopping sites for free as CupoNation wants your online shopping experience in India to be pocket friendly and fun. Just log on, grab your voucher and start enjoying the discounts! You can find the coupons by typing in the name of the store, the product or even the category in the search section of the CupoNation India Website. As soon as you do that, they show you all relevant, latest and working voucher codes. They claim that one will never find an expired coupon on CupoNation which means so much of time saving while shopping. Give it a try guys! Discounts are always a blessing :-)
