The Little Pink Dress!

We all have our favourite 'Little Black Dress' and I have a couple, but lately I have a favourite 'Little Pink Dress'. I bought it during my birthday shopping last year, but it has been the perfect dress for the Indian Summer that we are facing, and so most of you have seen me on Instagram wearing it quite regularly during the lockdown. I think the term 'LPD' would be just apt for it!

The Forgotten White Dress!

I know you must be wondering why the blog post has the title it has, so let me tell you a little story about this pretty white dress, which gave the blog post it's title. I bought this maxi dress from Forever 21 in the monsoon of 2017 (July to be precise), right when I got back from the USA after my vacation. Though the monsoon had started, when you see a white dress that subtly spells sexy, literally calls out to you and looks great on you too, you obviously are not going to leave the opportunity to buy it right? So I obviously didn't care that I would have to wait to wear it, because I definitely didn't want to not buy it, and then regret it later. So there it was in my shopping bag and home that very day. Little did I know, that because I wouldn't get to wear it a few months, I would completely forget about it. Very unlike me but yes it happened! 🤦

When Sabyasachi Mukherjee launched his ‘Banarasi Bride’ collection in 2015, I was so in awe that I immediately decided that my next lehenga would be a Banrasi one! Come December, my cousin was getting married and so I got the perfect chance to get this beautiful pink, gold and blue rich Banarasi lehenga made for myself.

Over the years I have experimented with different styles and the variation I am currently loving is the Gown Lehenga. The Gown Lehenga is a trendy variation of the traditional lehenga where the short choli has been replaced by a long kalidar kurta. I think it looks pretty and is the perfect combination of Indian and Western aesthetics.

The wedding season is back, and for the first time on the blog I have a series of outfit posts coming up to show you what I have been wearing to different weddings over the last one year. The roundup is of my favourite ones and you will have seen them on social media in bits in pieces, but now I will be sharing all of them with you through individual posts. I am starting with something that is timeless and I love wearing - the Saree! It's graceful, it's elegant and it makes a woman look absolutely beautiful. For me the classic style is my go to style but in terms of materials and embroideries, I do pick up quite a variety. Weddings call for bright colours with intricate embellished work and some bling, and that is what I have in mind while picking up my sarees or getting them made. The look here is from the Sangeet ceremony of a family wedding.

2016 is the year of White Sneakers! While we have been seeing the trend evolving since 2014, this year it is just the SHOE TO HAVE! Any type works, be it high tops, chucks, slip ons or kicks, as long as it is white, which is why I have gotten myself a couple. My most favourite however at the moment are my Michael Kors Irving Leather Sneakers with navy patent-leather accents which add a hint of glamour to the sneakers.
