Interior decor is a regular topic in my life, be it a discussion with friends, family or on the blog but I have noticed that most people leave out one important part in practically all discussions, which is on kids related decor. This is exactly what I am going to be touching on in this post. What you surround your kid with in their growing up years, will have a huge influence on how they grow and develop. For this very reason it is very important to make your child's room comfortable to live, learn and play in. I am now planning to move into a bigger house, where Aryaa's room is something that I am going to put my complete effort to do up, as she now is a 2 year old who would like to have her own space.

Get your home Raksha Bandhan ready! #BergerColourLog
Some of my most precious memories from my childhood are the birth of my brother and the priceless moments I have spent with him. Siblings are the best friends that God and our parents can give us and it’s one of the most beautiful bonds in our lives. Raksha Bandhan is a festival where you get to celebrate your beautiful relationship with your siblings. Since it is a time for celebration, you too can add a colourful and festive vibe to your homes and get it ready for Raksha Bandhan.

Asian Paints offers movies-inspired ideas this #WorldInteriorsDay with Film Production Designer Shruti Gupte
Having a dream home decorated by ourselves is something that all of us want. With changing trends, many of us have started decorating our interiors based on themes or various combinations of colors that denote our style of living and personality. In this era movies also play a huge role in influencing and widening our thought process. Many of us come back from movies inspired by the decor of the film we have gone to watch and want to recreate them for our own dream home but are quite clueless how to do it and can't afford to hire pricey interior architects. So to bring us closer to our dreams, Asian Paints #ColourStoreBandra conducted a workshop based on movies-inspired ideas for our homes. The theme of the workshop was ‘Intelligent & Inspirational Interiors, from Silver Screens to Your Home’, where they had renowned Film Production Designer, Shruti Gupte speaking to us about her experiences while creating homes for movies and how we too can create movie inspired designs for our homes and office spaces.

#StatementFurniture with Asian Paints Woodtech Studio
Home is where the heart is! It's that one place in the whole wide world which is your own space shared with the people you love or in a lot cases just you living alone, characterized by your own personal touches and memories thus making it home. Since I live in a rented house, I don't spend a lot in getting interiors done, but I spend on key pieces that will fit into any house that I move into, as they are a part of a larger setup that fit in together. Some of these key pieces like my furniture have now become over 5 years old and are in need of a revamp, as I have new ideas to redecorate my place with maximum spends being budgeted to revamp these pieces. This involves checking out decor stores across the city but the process has been super slow because work keeps me super busy. So event invites to decor stores are a total boon right now. I've been to Hill road in Bandra multiple times for street shopping and I've passed the Asian Paints Colour Store as many number of times, but I've to confess that I'd never gone inside until last week when I was invited for the blogger meet to experience the Asian Paints Woodtech Studio.

Prep Up Your Bedroom this Summer!
My house is slowly and steadily starting to look like what I have had in my mind for years but it isn't easy to do up rented spaces because you know that in a few years you have to leave that space behind and move on. So spending a lot doesn't make sense to me on interiors but spending on things that I can carry along with me is something I don't mind investing in. That is how I have started investing in key pieces that will fit into any house and are what I have had in mind to give 'My Touch' to the house.
Summer is the time when you will see me using bright and colourful bed linen in my bedroom to prep it up! I personally love quirky bed sheets to add the zing and this is exactly what my current collaboration with Welspun's Spaces Home & Beyond is all about! They have recently launched their Spring-Summer 2015 collection with 6 sub ranges. The collection varies from technological breakthroughs of temperature control technology that the Hygrocomfort range embodies, to digital prints on smooth satin in the Boho Chic range and on space dyed fabric in the Courtyard Range, to the 3D engraving that Youthopia Denim and the Ruyal ranges possess.
...
My favourite from the bed linen collection is the Youthopia Connected range where the emphasis is on a quirky concept in bright colours combined with reversible pillows to create dual looks with one bed set. I picked 3 sets from the Spaces Home & Beyond and I am sure you too are going to love my picks!
Youthopia Connected Horn Ok Please Set
...
Indian roads are incomplete without the trucks with 'Horn Ok Please' written all over the behind in different styles and ways. I fell in love with this set the minute I laid my eyes on it. The 'Dekho Magar Pyar Se' pillow cover is the best part of the set. This set couldn't have been made any better and had to be one of my picks for the love for my country and the road trips I go on :)
Youthopia Connected Emoticons Set
...
What will a blogger do without her smartphone and emoticons? This set perfectly sums up a good part of my day and my conversations in multiple formats with family, friends, readers and clients. I would be lost without emoticons and can't imagine my life without them! Now you know why this set got added to the list :)
Youthopia Connected Dance Set
...
When bed linen depicts what I think about dance with this gorgeous illustration it has got to be mine! The performing arts has been a part of my life since a kid and dancing has played an integral role in it. This set is going to get passed down to Aryaa because even as a baby she already knows her moves and this is how I want her to see dance - something that will give her a sense of freedom so that she'll dance like no one's watching! :)
I also picked up a reversible dual-sided rug and a bath towel from the Youthopia Denim Range. They are made of revolutionary washed denim and I kept wondering where the denim was. I found them really soft to use. In fact they just get softer and better with every wash. These too have made their way into Aryaa's room and wardrobe and she loves plopping herself onto the rug.
...
As far as the pricing goes, the bed sheets with pillow covers are priced at INR 2795 and the quilts are priced at INR 4995. The rugs are priced at INR 895 and towels are priced at INR 1195. I will recommend you guys go check out the Spaces Home & Beyond Spring-Summer 2015 collection at outlets closest to you and also take part in the #Shelfie contest to win some great stuff! Who wouldn't want to win such gorgeous stuff? :)

Home Decor @ Studio Pepperfry - Experience it before you buy it!
When I started this blog, I'd never thought that I would be sharing posts on home decor with my readers in a few years to come. But as I moved ahead in life, came marriage and a home which was all mine, and there surfaced my interest in home decor from where there was no looking back. I am constantly on the lookout for unique pieces to do up my place. It means going to stores, visiting flea markets and buying online. The pleasure and satisfaction that it gives me when people walk into my house and appreciate the effort Prateek and me put in, is worth all the effort.
Innovation is the key to survive in this competitive world. Especially in a country like India, where similar ideas are turned into businesses by a million people and only a few survive the rut, why because they dared to be different! It means investment of innovative ideas, time and money to a whole new level, even though less effort and money can give you results. The effort is put in because one is looking at long run survival rather than making a quick buck. When I look at the various online businesses that have sprung up in India in the last few years, most of them look the same to me. Sometimes due to the similarity, I even tend to mix names up. But those few that stand out are always on top of mind.
One such online business that has stolen my heart recently is Pepperfry.com. Till a few months ago, it was one of the few good furniture and home decor marketplaces online, but come December 2014 it became my go-to site as it introduced a concept that no one else had in this country. It launched "Studio Pepperfry” - a one of its kind concept store which is basically an experience studio for you to check out a curated range of furniture from the online portfolio of Pepperfry as well as get design consultancy done for your house. This concept totally stole my heart as it introduces Indian consumers to a whole new dimension of online buying. What impressed me about the studio is that you will find no sales counter there, as the store is just to experience the cutting edge design, various types of furniture with different wood finishes and get an idea of the overall quality of the furniture from Pepperfry. Having a no-sales-point shows that despite bearing overheads, the brand is not looking at immediate offline sales but sticking to its model of online sales which is its main business. I visited the studio at Kanjurmarg, Mumbai and loved how tastefully it had been set-up.
Here are some of my favourite pieces that I never really noticed online!
The lounge chair and and the book shelf are on my to 'Sure to buy list'! And while I am telling you about what I'm going to buy, let me tell you how the order placing process works once you are at the Pepperfry Studio. On reaching the studio, there are numerous interior design consultants who assist you in browsing through the entire range of 11,000 Pepperfry furniture items online and then run you through the type of wood and finishes with reference to the pieces at the store. Once you have finalised your piece, they help you in ordering via iPads at the studio and you don't need to wait till you head back home to place the order. You can also come to the store with your budget and aspirations, and these experts will offer you free in-store design consultancy on furniture products to furnish your home, reflecting the latest and best in contemporary home design while working around your budgets. All in all simple and fuss free :-)
There is more good news for you guys from Pepperfry. They have recently launched a contest called Design Democracy, which is based on the prinicple of 'Furniture from the people, by the people for the people'. It is again a first-of-its-kind initiative and all interested to participate can visit this page on the website - www.pepperfry.com/designdemocracy.html and submit their prototype designs. Check-out Pepperfry’s official Facebook and twitter page & www.pepperfry.com for more details. The winning designs will be brought to life by Pepperfry’s which will then go up for sale on the website. The competition ends on 28th February 2015 so hurry!

Polka Dotted!
Polka dots are all over me these days or should I say that I am all over polka dots these days. Either ways it conveys the fact that I am totally in love with polka dots at the moment :). Absolutely in fashion now along with being retro, it is a trend that is here to stay. The polka dots can be of various sizes depending on the style and cut of your outfit and it suits all ages too :D
A few occasions on which I was spotted with polka dots ;)
A cute purple tunic with white polka dots. Can wear it as a dress with white ballerinas.
My sheer top with the classic combination of black with white dots. Can accessorise it with a coloured belt.
A funky yellow bag with black polka dots. Adds instant cheerfulness to any outfit.
A comfy tube top for an evening out.
Its best to stick to one polka dot item in your outfit to avoid going overboard. In case you are not a polka dot fan then add just a polka dotted accessory to jazz up your outfit like a headband or a scarf.
My favourites also include:
- Polka dot socks - They look sooo cute!
- Polka dot cocktail dresses - Gives a you a very sophisticated look. Perfect for a formal gathering.
- Polka dot swim wear - 'Yellow polka dot bikini' is a song each one of us know ;) but seriously they make swim wear look really adorable, whether its a one piece or a two piece.
- Polka dot shoes - Peep toes or ballerinas or sneakers, they all rock!
- Polka dot clutches - A perfect combination with one colour dresses.
- Polka dot lingerie - Flirtatious and fun ;)
My fantasy shopping list still has quite some stuff that I need to pick up. Let me give you a sneak peek!
- Stockings
2. Skirts
3. One Shouldered Dress
Polka dots can be a part of a man's wardrobe as well. They too have a variety of items that can be incorporated into their outfits.
Home Decor Tip(So what if this is a fashion blog ;)???) -You can add colour to your house with polka dots whether in curtains, cushion covers, wallpaper, vases, sofa covers or table cloths.
Mix polka dots with other textures for a modern look or stick to the classic colours for the retro look. Just remember to wear your confidence at the top of it all and you are set! :)
