The Piku Collection by Melange by Lifestyle and my inspired look
The country is going gaga over Piku and Shoojit Sircar has proved that he knows how to hit the right chord with the audience by bringing out fresh concepts to watch. Having an exceptional star cast has also worked for this movie as Amitabh Bacchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan would be any director's Dream Team for a movie like Piku. While I can go on raving about the movie, I am going to touch on my next favourite part of the movie which should be an obvious - Deepika's look!
I was recently invited to the unveiling of the 'Piku Inspired Collection by Melange by Lifestyle' by Deepika and Irrfan and I really liked the look created for her character. Deepika's look in the movie is stylish, functional and comfortable and is a perfect marriage of modern meets ethnic. I loved her easy breezy style with kurtis, palazzos, jeans, jackets and scarves seamlessly paired together for a very realistic approach to her character. Here's what Deepika had to say about her look!
There was a fashion show to take us through the entire Piku collection which was heavily dominated by black, white and red and there were quite a few pieces that caught my eye. Deepika also crowned the winner of the Piku Melange contest held by Lifestyle.
Lifestyle also let me choose from the Piku Collection by Melange and here is what I put together inspired by Deepika's look in the movie :) I went with the quintessential combination of black and white by combining a classic Chikan kurta with black linen pants and a black bandi(jacket) with tassles and white block print on it.
In case one wants, one can also add a black dupatta to it to give it a more ethnic touch.
I've put together a casual Indian look for the first time on my blog and it's been quite good fun. As always Melange by Lifestyle gave me a fantastic collection to choose from and I am looking forward to adding some more pieces to my wardrobe. The black linen pants are so comfortable that I am practically living in them now and it can be paired with a T-shirt or a short kurti too. While I go and pick up some more pieces for myself, this is a collection that I would surely recommend for you girls to go check out too!

TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Official India Launch
What does an iconic British hair dressing brand do when they complete 50 years? Well, they take the super smart decision to officially launch in India :) Speedy growth and increasing urbanisation have spawned a new class of consumers with higher disposable incomes and a growing passion for fashion and style in India. Hence, significant new growth opportunities for foreign and domestic players have come into being. So cashing in on that, TONI&GUY officially launched their "Hair meet Wardrobe" concept in India! According to them, perfection happens when the right things come together. Which is why they have created the ultimate style equation – bringing hair and wardrobe together. Just like fashion, how one wear’s their hair speaks volumes about their style. And no one knows style better than TONI&GUY.
A Unilever brand, TONI&GUY products allow you to create runway-worthy looks that never fail to wow each season. And it isn't just for women, men too have an entire range devoted to them. Hence their motto 'Dress From The Head Down' applies to everyone :)
The India launch which was a much awaited affair, witnessed a level of fanfare and glamour not seen before in my life as a blogger. Global Hair Ambassador Mark Hampton introduced the brand, the concept, how London Fashion Week was incomplete without Toni&Guy, and then with the Official Fashion Stylist, Designer Manish Arora, created 3 different looks on the fashionistas for the evening - Casual, Classic & Glamour. My verdict - the philosophy was aptly transformed into appealing and easy to understand visuals for us to take back with us and apply.
Let's decode these looks for you just how Mark showed us, and you can see for yourself how simple they are to do them yourselves:
Casual
The spunk with which Anusha Dandekar carries hereself, the textured top-knot on her looks perfect for a casual time out!
Classic
Soha Ali Khan is one of the few actresses that carries off vintage influenced looks with oomph! Something to do with her blue blood genes for sure. Her vintage side-swept waves created by Mark would classify as uber classic.
Glamour
Glamourous is the only word that comes to my mind when I think of Malaika Arora and that is exactly what was thought when a look for her had to be decided. Her high glamour waves are just perfect!
Shiamak Davar couldn't have ended the evening better than with the "HairMeetWardrobe" theme focusing on the three styles of the evening Casual, Classic and Glamour and the three women who rocked the looks!
And while the night had just begun to rock, I was charmed away by the charming Mark Hampton (such a cutie I tell you!)

The fabulous launch is only making me look forward to their awesome products now in India! While I have picked up a few on my trips abroad, the official launch just makes it easier for us and I can't wait to try the entire range here now!

Women's Health launches in India
The India Today group launched the very first issue of Women's Health magazine (India edition) this month in partnership with the US-based Rodale Inc, the publishers of Women's Health magazine across 26 countries. With a tag line ‘Fit is the New Sexy’, the Indian edition has been positioned to appeal to the sensibilities of the new generation of contemporary, confident and ambitious young Indian woman in the age group of 20s and 30s – who is looking for a resource that helps her achieve her potential, her passions and her personal best! Women’s Health has been a reservoir of health, fitness and style for women the world over. The 27th international edition, Women’s Health
The content in the Indian edition can be defined in two parts broadly- one
'Healthier and Fitter life' that includes health, fitness, nutrition and weight
loss, the other 'Upgrading your Life', which includes beauty, style, sex,
relationships and life skills. The cover stories of the magazine will typically
be Bollywood celebs’ success secrets, fitness and diet regimes and their beauty
secrets.
Accompanying her at the launch were fitness expert Leena Mogre and the Editor of Women's Health India, Sanghamitra Chakraborty.
Sanghamitra Chakraborty said “Today women are more independent and are in the forefront of the change. Women’s Health India is a magazine that speaks its mind without being judgmental. Our boldness, sense of humour and honesty is exactly what women want - they appreciate easy, smart, fun choices, not suggestions for unrealistic life changes.”
Anushka answered loads of questions that were thrown at her. The most sensible advice that she gave was not to try to be like her or Deepika or Priyanka, but to follow what is right for your own body type. She also reinstated something that I believe in - It is important to eat every few hours since it increase our metabolic rate whereas our body tends to store whatever it gets as fat if we starve it.
When asked about Zumba, Anushka was clueless what it was :) When told it was a dance form , she was like "We dance enough in Bollywood, there is no need for me to practice Zumba!" :) Cute moment according to Ri(t)ch Styles :)
Anushka's favourite shopping haunt and brand is Zara. She was dressed in an all Zara attire for the launch.
I hope Women's Health is able to impart the kind of advice they say they are going to, as realistic information is what women in India today need. I have followed similar advice for the last 10 years of my life which has been responsible for my 18 kilo weight loss :)
So, what are you waiting for women? Get your hands on a copy now!! :)
