L'Oréal Paris Cannes 2015 Collection - Be Red Carpet Ready!

Lights, Camera, Fashion, L'Oréal! That's the perfect way to describe the Cannes Film Festival every year! While the red carpet becomes the place to be for stars from around the world for those 10 days along with all eyes on the beautiful L'Oréal Paris ambassadors, the couch in front of the TV becomes my permanent one. My association with L'Oréal Paris has been a special one, and this year they gave me a red carpet moment too with the all time favourite L'Oréal Paris ambassador Sonam Kapoor, and their brand new ambassador Katrina Kaif who has recently joined the family.

The collection for Cannes this year is a gorgeous one. L'Oréal Paris has launched the Colour Riche Moist Mat Lipsticks(limited edition embedded with Swarovski crystals and packed in a velvet casing), L'Oréal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks by Color Riche & Super Liner Gel Intenza exclusively for the Cannes 2015. It's perfect Red Carpet material!

I was asked to be a  part of Team Glamorous Gloss as a part of the collection launch event, which was Katrina's team and I was more than happy. Here's my red carpet look created with a mix of products from the L'Oréal Paris Cannes 2015 Collection!

For creating this look I have used the Colour Riche Moist Mat Lipstick in Cherry Crush(P502) topped with L'Oréal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche in Rose Symphony(201) & the Super Liner Gel Intenza in Diamond Black(03).

My thoughts -The Colour Riche Moist Mat Lipsticks are highly pigmented and last for hours without drying the lips. A winner as always, it comes in 12 shades. However my favourite from this collection is the L'Oréal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche which is a wonder product as it gives an intense colour like a lipstick with the finish of a gloss and moisturizes your lips too. It comes in 13 glossy shades. The Super Liner Gel Intenza is perfect for creating that dramatic winged liner and comes in 5 glam shades. It's smudge proof, water resistant and lasts for really long while it claims to last for 36 hours. The brush is perfect for creating really thin to thick eye liner effects and I haven't achieved an as perfect winged eyeliner with any other product earlier.

My Outfit

I chose to go with this summer perfect pretty pink and silver dress as it was an afternoon soirée. The dress is a self designed one and I got a couple of requests that afternoon to even design it for others. The Charles and Keith silver peeptoes with a glass heel made me feel like Cinderella as I've always wanted a glass shoe since the first time I read that story. My obsession with shoes started quite young you see ;-) I love the geometric structure of the steel( yes steel!) clutch from Romwe and it added just the perfect edge to the outfit.

And here come my Red Carpet moments!

With the captain of my team Glamourous Gloss - Katrina Kaif !

With the ever charming and stunning Sonam Kapoor - Captain of Team Matte

Red Carpet moments don't come often but if even a few like these come by, you know how lucky you are! :) I had a great time at the launch that was full of glamour, glitz, beautiful women, make-up and was spent in the company of the awesome L'Oréal Paris team. Girls do go and check out the Cannes 2015 collection and do share your favourites with me! :)

Product Review: L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfect 30+ cream

Anti-ageing is the buzz word these days and in my post here I had revealed to you the recently launched Skin Perfect Range from L'Oréal Paris for 3 age groups - 20s, 30s and 40s addressing skin care needs specific to those ages. Now since I am in my 30's, I used the 30+ cream and here is my verdict on what I thought about the range.

I have dry skin and if not moisturised everyday dry skin ages earlier. So for me it was imperative that the cream I used had to have an effect lasting through the day which was the first most quality that this cream won on. Also since I step out quite frequently, this cream was perfect as it had SPF 21. Infact anybody who steps out for 5 minutes in a day, needs to protect themselves from the UVA and UVB rays. These are the first thoughts on what would make me consider a cream.

Here are my first impressions on the packaging. The cream comes in a sturdy glass pot bottle and is not very heavy. Once you open the pretty golden cover which closes quite tight, you see a spill proof lid with an easy to pick up finger-grip which is very essential for creams to avoid leakage. The bottle has the details mentioned very clearly on it and the paper box packaging mentions all details that you need to know on every main ingredient before you make the buying decision.

The cream looked a little heavy when I first opened the lid, but on touching it realised it was light and fluffy and not at all heavy. The cream is off white in colour and has a lovely smell to it. The skin absorbs the cream instantly and doesn't leave any film but that may be because I just take a pea size amount and spot it into 5 points on my face and rub it in and also because I have dry skin. I did have a few tiny breakouts on my forehead which disappeared in 2 to 3 days but then once in a while I do get some breakouts, so I don't know if it was because of the cream.

I have been using the 30+ Skin Perfect range for over 2 weeks now and have noticed a certain radiance to my face as well brightening of my skin. This must be the effect of the Vitamin 3X complex that this cream contains that acts on melanin responsible for dullness and darkness and Vitamin E which possesses anti-oxidant properties. Also my skin feels quite smooth which is the effect of the pro-collagen. I can apply make-up over it without the fear of my skin turning greasy which is a very important consideration for me while buying a skin cream. I leave it for 5 minutes before applying any make-up. Priced at INR 425, it is definitely one of the most reasonable creams in the market.

A combination of the above satisfying features is definitely why I will consider buying this product.

Pregnancy/Maternity Dressing for Special Occasions

Most people think dressing during pregnancy is a chore, especially when you have an occasion to attend. When I got pregnant, I thought the same. However getting myself at ease with certain ideas and thoughts, helped me decode some really easy tips to continue using my existing wardrobe and continue to wear some of the pretty dresses I own, for special occasions. When I say special occasions, it could mean anything from weddings, parties, movie premiers to date nights :-) You can also keep these tips in mind while picking up new outfits for special occasions.

Be proud of your bump
A lot of people like to hide their belly. In India we have a lot of superstitions surrounding it which I am not going to get into, but after the first few crucial months, when the critical stages have been passed, I see nothing wrong in showing your bump. To flaunt your belly along with staying comfortable, choose dresses that are snug in the bodice and have a looser skirt area that is free flowing around the hips and stomach. Make sure the bodice is well fitting and not tight so that in sometime you don’t start gasping for air!

Plan ahead
Special occasions mean fun times and when your heading out is restricted during pregnancy, the few times you head out, you want nothing to spoil it. Avoid any discomfort in your outfit by planning ahead! Choose a comfortable dress which will also fit you a few days/weeks ahead depending on when the occasion is planned for. Plan and keep your footwear comfortable too, especially if it involves being on your feet for too long.

Keep in mind the length of your dress and heel height
The dress you wear should be of an appropriate length which means not long enough to cause you to trip! That could just be too disastrous! Also if you must wear heels (not a good idea), then stick to wedges as they provide more stability and a base to your entire foot. However try and avoid heels after your second trimester.

Material check
Pregnancy makes you feel as if your body has an additional heating system within. This happens because you have around 40% more blood pumping around your body to cope with the needs of your unborn baby. Hence, the material of your dress (especially in summer) needs to be such that it can let your body breathe. So, stay away from synthetics as much as possible and choose more of cotton and non synthetic georgette and chiffon.

Simple and long lasting make-up
My tip would be 'Keep it Simple' and let your pregnancy glow show! However, whatever make-up you do use, make sure it is the long lasting and water-proof as you don't want to be rushing for touch-ups in your already heavy state.

Well these are the 5 main ones I keep in mind, and used it to my best at my recent Babymoon in Goa. PS took me for a special candle light dinner to the Spice Studio at the Alila Diwa Goa where Chef Eida attended to us personally and gave us one of our best Goan food experiences ever. I was all dressed in this gorgeous Aztec Print Dress from Romwe and ready to be courted for one of the most special dinners of my life :-)

Tribal Print Diamante White Dress - Romwe
Blue stones flats - Queue Up Footwear
Blue Geometric Stone stretch bracelet - INPINK

On my lips - L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lincoln Rose
On my eyes - L'Oreal Kajal Magique, L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Kohl Portofino Blue
and L'Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen Glamor Gold

If you want a RED Lipstick that doesn't bleed and doesn't wear off weirdly in bits after food and drinks, then try the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lincoln Rose (YES, exactly the shade that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore at Cannes) and watch it stay in place even after a complete meal!

I loved the lit up passages at the Alila Diwa so much that you see I couldn't stop clicking pictures there. Also, you must also get a glimpse of the lovely dinner we had!

Hungry?! ;-) I would highly recommend the Goan Potato Soup, Dhabewala Mutton with Appam and the Fish Curry Rice here.

The start of Ri(t)ch Styles and how it spread its roots :)

I am in a nostalgic mood today. As the Blogversary date is drawing closer, I can't help but reminicse the wonderful moments that the blog has given me from when it started in 2009. It's been a great journey and I have grown in various and positive ways :)

2009 to 2013 - Cheers!

For those of you who don't know much about me other than what you see on the blog, here is a backgrounder on me in simple words:
I’m a media professional by profession and a personal style & fashion blogger and stylist by passion :) I toggle between the two between day and night.

How did Ri(t)ch Styles start?
Way before I started the blog, I used to do makeovers in my free time and personally shop for people because most of the stuff I wore or bought was appreciated and people wanted to know how they could get their hands on similar stuff and good deals and how to put together combinations and tips and all. Reading has also been a passion and so while reading all the lovely fashion blogs a few years ago, I decided that one of the best ways for me to express myself would be through my own personal blog where I could share my ideas and that’s how Ri(t)ch Styles came into being. Ri(t)ch Styles was originally known as 'Fashion from around the World' as I used to travel a lot and pick up a lot of stuff while travelling, but after marriage, a tip from PS gave me the brilliant idea to change the name to Ri(t)ch Styles :) Apt as it relates to my name RITCHA and to my personal style.

Why I chose fashion as a topic?
Fashion is what keeps me going. It is a daily part of me and it is what I express myself through and involves my entire look. At the end of the day, my happiness is majorly dependent on what I am wearing :)

So with the support of family and best friends, I started my blog and that is how it has reached today to where it stands spreading it roots further!

The L'Oreal Paris's Stay Rooted Jad Se Judein video has moments just like I have had through my life and reminds me that we all start small. You can check out the video here - http://bit.ly/JadSeJudein

And since it reminds me of moments, I'm keeping a L'Oreal #StayRooted Giveaway Contest

Would love to know who keeps you rooted :)

L'Oréal Paris Cannes Conference unveiling L'Or Collection by Sonam Kapoor And Namrata Soni

When I think of the Cannes Film Festival, I think of L'Oréal Paris and the fashion fiesta that it is known for being. This year L'Oréal Paris celebrates 16 years of being the official make-up partner and 10 years of partnering with the festival, a partnership that was born from a true passion for cinema and out of respect for the creativity true to L'Oréal s values. What's even better is that the festival is celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema this year and so Bollywood will take centre stage at the red carpet! For an Indian, all eyes should be on Cannes this year :)

Last week,
L'Oréal Paris invited me for their Cannes Press Conference to meet Sonam Kapoor as she unveiled L'OR SUNSET - their collection for the Cannes Film Festival paying tribute to Bollywood and homage to the beauty of cinema. Manashi Guha, Marketing Manager, L'Oréal Paris announced Namrata Soni as their new Beauty Expert who has created 6 Bollywood inspired make-up looks keeping in mind the 100 years of Indian Cinema, out of which Sonam will be wearing 2 at the Cannes this year. These looks are inspired by the various eras of Bollywood.

The L’Or Sunset collection features a palette of colours that celebrates the shadows and lights of the most glamorous sunsets. The collection is versatile and I personally got a chance to check out the entire collection at the conference while Namrata showed us two simple looks and gave us tips.

The new L'Or Sunset Collection takes drama to the next level as it filled with colours that satisfy ever person's wants. They have bright pop colours, subtle colours and dark colours thus allowing one to create en-number of looks with one collection. For summer this is going to be my go-to collection. Their range of products is vast and the sparkle nail paints add the Oomph to the collection!

Sonam Kapoor is a fashion icon in our country. I love her eclectic sense of style and the confidence with which she carries herself. The conference proved that in person to me too! She wore a gorgeous Armani Privé dress with to-die-for Sunita Kapoor earrings.

What made her stand out were her straight forward answers, the way she commanded respect for the rest of the people on stage with her and how sweetly she interacted with me and also asked me if I liked the collection - Manners well taught I must say! :)

Namrata Soni, I would say is like a magician who uses her magic wand which are her swift fingers and transforms women into gorgeous beauties in no time. She is one lady to watch out for on the Indian make-up scene.

Check out the how she lovely Sonam is looking at Cannes in the looks she sported on the first two red carpet evenings - One Dramatic and One Subtle and Pretty!

What did you think of the L'Or Sunset collection? How many of you are gonna get your hands on it? Look forward to hearing from you :)
