Blackberrys Sharp Nights Progressive

The Blackberrys Sharp Nights has always been a event where one has all reason to dress up and step out in style.Desirable mens wear, stylishly dressed people, great music, food , drinks and this year to add to it - Cinema - definitely Progressive as the theme suggested were all a part of the launch of the Fall Winter 2013 collection at the Blackberrys Sharp Nights – Progressive, an exclusive, closed door fashion extravaganza.

I picked out my favourite dress at the moment - a color-blocked one shoulder dress and paired it with my choicest diamond jewellery to attend the event. :)

Black Purse - Kazo
Cutwork heels - Giovana (Singapore)
Diamond bangles and earrings - From personal collection

The Ri(t)ch Styles team had a fabulous time!

I'm sure you wanna know what we saw and experienced, so here you go! ;)

The fun filled night saw the brand live up to its motto “Go sharp” as models strutted down the ramp in a collection that featured the classic gentleman’s style in an evolved fashion. Bow ties, tweeds, checks, tartans, sharp trousers and colorful chinos all put together in a style fitting a Blackberrys man.

The show stoppers of the event raising the hotness quotient were the future stars of Indian Cinema - Sidharth Malhotra(hot hot hot), Abhay Deol(his smile was the actual show stopper) and Aditya Roy Kapoor(cute) who walked down the ramp looking dapper and classic in Blackberrys apparel.

The night ended with a dual performance -B.L.O.T. mixing live beats for the crowd while Shruti Hassan jammed along with them.

Blackberrys has become synonymous with giving things the ‘twist’, ‘for challenging norms’ and walking the unbeaten path. With the brand’s mantra of ‘Go Sharp’, this encapsulating concept is another novelty from the brand and thus another Sharp Night from Blackberrys came to an end. We are definitely looking forward to the next one!

Queen For A Day at the Taj Salon

"You don't need a Tiara to be a Princess, you were born a Queen."
- Kawthar ALHasan

When an invite from the Taj Salon which started with these words was delivered to my doorstep, that too to be pampered like a Queen for a Day, I knew that there was no looking back and I had to say YES. Royalty and Taj go hand in hand - everyone knows that since forever! And when you have also had a crazy Saturday, such events on a Sunday make the pampering much called for.

The warm reception started the minute I set foot inside the Taj Salon at Taj Lands End, Bandra. Lovely smiles, a wonderful team and other bloggers were gonna be my partners in royalty for the next few hours while I relaxed and got treated like a Queen :)

The Taj salon 1st opened its doors in 1940 as one of the only 2 salons in the country and was run by Madame Jacques (a French national) for 42 years. In 1981, the Taj Group took over and renovated and re-launched under the brand ‘Taj Salon’. Some of their earliest employees who joined them back in the 1970s and used to work with Madame Jacques continue to work with them till today. Impressive!

I got a number of services done, so let me take you through my wonderful afternoon :)

Manicure & Pedicure
This was the first set of services I went for and I can't tell you how satisfied I was. The sea view from the mani-pedi station was so calming that I sat for there for nearly two hours with no hurry or worry about getting anything else done. Pure Luxury! If I had my way, I would have probably gotten all my services done sitting right there ;) (that actually became the joke of the afternoon). The therapist was incredibly good. The techniques he used, I haven't ever seen till date in any other salon and believe me or not, the polish lasted for 2 full weeks without chipping or touch up. So a totally recommended service from me. A regular manicure costs INR 900 while a pedicure costs INR 1000 which is the name of luxury is a total steal!

Hair Spa & Hair Cut
The hair stylist checked the texture of my hair and recommended the Moroccan Oil Hair Spa to deepen the colour in my hair and increase moisture and it sounded really luxurious so I was all for it. Mid way through the hair spa I also realised I was due for a hair cut and so that too got added to the list. The hair spa left my hair super silky and shiny and the hair cut added a bounce with some bangs. The result was a complete change in looks :) The Moroccan Oil Hair Spa costs INR 3,500 but is worth it coz the moisture locks into your hair for a good amount of time. Haircuts cost about INR 750 for men and INR 1,500 for women. Again I must say a steal deal!

Finally I was done, but my hospitable hosts would not give up on me and wouldn't let me stop ;) So I went ahead and got a quick shoulder massage done, some eye make-up and a cute pouf hairstyle for the retro themed look before the Tiara was placed on my head for the finale, which made me totally feel like a queen! Royalty I tell you - super easy to get used to ;-)

Did you just think it got over here? Hell no! :)

The evening continued to get better with some mocktails, hors d'ouvres and chit chat before we finally bade each other good bye but not before they surprised me with this cute gift basket of goodies.

I must say the Taj Salon embodies everything its name stands for – beauty, luxury, class and above all – service!

Recipe Time: Dahi wale Aloo/Yoghurt Potatoes

Since I am a foodie, I am going to start sharing some recipes too on the blog. Things that I cook in my kitchen :)

This recipe that I am sharing, is a pass me down recipe from my mother-in-law and is a dish PS loves :) Has also become one of my favourite dishes after marriage. It’s simple and super easy to cook. Takes only about 10 to 15 minutes and is delicious!

Ingredients:
• Sour Yogurt(whisked) - 1 bowl
• Potatoes(boiled) - 3-4 medium
• Salt to taste
• Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
• Oil - 2 teaspoons
• Fenugreek seeds - 1 teaspoon

Method:
• Peel and cut the boiled potatoes into about 8 pieces each
• Heat oil in a wok and add the fenugreek seeds and fry for about 10 seconds. Then add the potato pieces and fry for about a minute.
• Add turmeric powder and chilli powder and continue to fry for about 2 minutes.
• Add the whisked yoghurt to this and mix well. Keep stirring for about 2 to 3 minutes till the first boil comes.
• After that add upto 1/2 cup of water depending on how thick you want the gravy. Let it cook for a few minutes and then after the next boil add salt.
• Reduce the heat and let it boil one or two times more till the gravy is well cooked. Stir the gravy a few times to avoid clumping of the yoghurt.
• Turn off the heat and garnish if you want to with coriander
• Serve hot with paratha or steam rice.

Let me know if you tried the recipe and liked it! :)

I also have a food related discovery to share with you. Like me, in case you have no time to cook or don’t wanna head out to eat sometimes, then you have www.Foodpanda.in that can come to your rescue. Foodpanda has online menus from the staggering selection of delivery restaurants around you. Simply enter your post code and search for cuisine type, restaurants or even price range. The restaurant index also includes address and delivery hours. The website operates by delivering food from a wide range of restaurants to either homes and/or offices in 14 cities in India, namely Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, etc. I have tried it a few times and I quite like it. Infact in my last experience, just at the time of payment my net crashed and they instantly called me to check whether I was having some issues and wanted to go ahead with the order or not.  It also is updated with the food festivals and offers happening around your city. Ordering food has become easy, fast and definitely fun and the mascot panda is so cute!
