Neon Accents

Not always in the mood to rock a single shade vividly hued neon piece because you want to go the minimal way, but still want to wear neon? Then you can do exactly what I did :) This lovely multi neon coloured top with ABCD written in different shades of neon from Persunmall.com was the answer to the problem of how to do neon in a minimal way without using too much of one solid colour of neon.

What to Wear in Vegas

A reader wrote in to me last week that she is travelling to Las Vegas for her holidays, and wanted me to suggest 'What to Wear' in the evenings while she is there, particularly when she heads to the casino. First of all I must say she is a damn lucky girl because Vegas is still a hot spot on my TO TRAVEL list and secondly, USA is one of the best places to shop :) So Reader Girl, have a rocking time!

Two things that go hand in hand in Vegas are casinos and fashion appropriate for it. Fashion, that too the glamourous and glitzy kind. So I have put together 3 looks, just that kind for her – An evening to night look which can take her from the famous Vegas strip to the casino, a look just for the casino, and a night look that can take her from the casino to the club!

Look 1: An evening to night look which can take her from the famous Vegas strip to the casino

A lively place calls for bright coloured clothes. So a pair of yellow pants with a bright pink top highlighted by a colourful necklace, turquoise peeptoes and a multi-coloured clutch is great to take you from an sight seeing fun evening at the Vegas strip to the casino. If the weather gets a little chilly, then this lovely sequinned blazer can keep you warm.

Look 2 – A look for the casino

For your casino time, bet on a relaxed kaftan style asymmetrical dress, a pair of reflecting golden heels, a colour blocked geometric clutch, a couple of metallic bangles and simple crystal drop earrings. You want the ensemble to be comfortable as you don’t know how long your betting night is going to last :)

Look 3: A night look that can take her from the casino to the club

This look is perfect for spending some time at the casino and then hitting the club. A sexy bodycon doesn't need much to work its magic. Accentuate it with these gorgeous heels and a sequinned clutch with just simple diamond studs to complete the look. A jacket can come handy if the October chill bothers you.

So that does it girl! You are set to rock Vegas in these looks! :)

Twisted Tresses!

Hi-Low Top - 99labels.com
Purple Pants - Spring Break
Floral Print Shoes - Linking Road
Golden Bag - Romwe - I'm loving this new bag of mine!

Sometimes you don't need a haircut to change the look of your hair, sometimes all it takes is a new hairstyle to look different. This is what I tried when Rhea from FUSS invited us for a Monsoon Party at the new JCB salon at Khar. The stylists twisted my hair on both sides from the front and pinned it at the back  and then took all of it and pinned it on the side and voila I had a new look :)

This is one style I am gonna try again. And when I get to do it with the company of these beauties, it is even more fun!

A Sequinned Dream - How to wear a Sequin Dress

A Sequin Dress - I had been desiring one since ages, but I also knew that I never wanted to take the chance of ending up looking cheap and tacky. Most times that's what a look ends up in. Mainly because either people don't buy the right dress, or they don't accessorise properly. So when at the recent MANGO sale I saw this perfect sequin dress, I knew I had to have it at that very moment! One for the copper colour, two for the way it fits like a dream without poking(comfort is very important for me) and three for the pretty looking contrasting sequin work over the base sequins. Getting it was like a dream come true!

I wore it to the recent TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Official India Launch and the compliments never stopped flowing. I'm glad to have found that one dress that has finally ended my long long search.

Dress - MANGO
Black Crocodile skin textured sling purse - KAZO
Black cut-out peep toes - Giovanna, Singapore (last worn here and here)

I am a sucker for deep backs!

So what is it that one needs to keep in mind while wearing a Sequin Dress? Let's run you through some quick tips:
  1. Don't load yourself with jewellery - Since you are already going to be making a shiny statement due to the sequins, jewellery should be minimalistic. A ring or two, a bracelet or a watch(you can even avoid this)  and simple earrings like solitaires will do the trick.
  2. Stick to one sequinned item in the look - Overdoing sequins is a fashion faux pas, so stick to just the sequin dress as you do not want to ruin its effect and keep the accessories neutral or solid coloured to balance the look.
  3. Use textures in accessories - For your shoes and purse think suede, patent leather, patterned leather (like my cut-out peep toes and crocodile skin textured sling purse) as they all can work very well to aesthetically amplify your look.
  4. Choose your inner wear carefully - Sequins reflect light, so you surely don't want any bulges under your dress. Bulges will look bigger when they are shimmering. Wear seamless undergarments for a smooth look. You can also choose well fitting shape-wear that can give your dress a sleek appearance.
  5. Keep the make-up subtle - A pop of colour on your lips, a light eye shadow and some kohl and mascara and that's it!
After keeping all of this in mind, all you need is to add your natural sparkle to the outfit - Your Confident Smile and you are set! :)

So would you dare to wear a sequin dress?
