A memorable Goan Anniversary :)

Zig Zag effect  colour-blocked Necklace - Chicnova
Top - BHG (Singapore)
Shorts - Promod
Bangles - Linking Road, Mumbai
Bag - Ruby (Singapore)

Shorts are the staples of any beach holiday, and I decided to dress up a pair for the anniversary evening outing.. So out came a striped bikini top, a linen singlet and a multi colour necklace. Adding to the colour, was my yellow sling bag and there I was all ready for the celebrations :)

PS and I spent some time at the Vagator cliff just gazing at the sea, taking in the calmness and enjoying the lovely evening.

And then it was time for the celebrations for which there was no better place than Brittos to head to! :)

A gleaming Ri(t)ch Styles team post the eating and drinking escapade! Cheers!

Couldn't have asked for a better 3rd anniversary! :)

Travel Tales: Singapore's Orchard Road & Clarke Quay

Our day at Sentosa got us soooo tired that dressing up in some funky colour to brighten up the day was the need of the hour.. I was carrying my newly acquired loose Tangerine knot top from Choies.com and decided to wear it over a pair of simple black shorts as my bag was blingy too. A person like me who is bottom heavy has to take care that the top needs to be loose and not clingy in order to balance out the outfit. Also a nice neckpiece will draw attention to the top rather than the bottom.

PS wore an Angry Birds tshirt that I picked up for him cause I found it super cute! That's actually the way his life is considering that he chose to become a Chartered Accountant and now has to really juggle his personal and professional life :)

Our day was spent at Orchard predominantly for shopping, then catching up on Ek Tha Tiger - Ya I know not such a bright idea but since it was family time with cousins too it was fun, and then heading to Clarke Quay. Orchard for me has always meant some selective places to shop before trying out new places, so the regular list (which means the best deals)were:
  1. Far East Plaza - It's located just off Orchard road opposite the Duty Free Shopping mall and is the best place for bargains with some sort of quality guarantee on fashion related items. This place is an older mall before the chic and luxurious Singapore came into being and is still a major favourite with everyone. Her you can find everything from fashion to music to massages to electronics. I have always come back with great buys from this place. bYSI is one of my favourite stores here for their fitted dresses.
  2. Forever 21 at 313 Somerset - With multiple levels this place is one F21 heaven for someone like me who loves Forever 21. I love the mid range dresses from this place other than not to mention the accessories ;)
  3. H&M at Orchard Building - This is the only H&M store in Singapore and with India lacking it, not going there is out of the questions. Having great stuff at great prices for guys and gals, the lines outside the changing rooms which are a key feature here are worth the wait.
Other than this the other places were the OG Store, malls like 313 Somerset, Wisma Atria, ION Orchard and Paragon Mall. More than enough for the day before we headed off for the movie.

Post the movie we headed to Clarke Quay, Clarke Quay is Singapore's most happening night place for some good times that has old building housing night spots, drinking and food places. I love the Crazy Elephant Rock and Roll Blues Bar where you can enjoy some great live music, drinks and food by the riverside. No visit of mine is complete without a night out here :)

Reader Style Query!! :)

Jasmine, a very sweet reader of my blog, recently had a style query about whether she could wear short shorts and the kind of necklines she could wear:

Hi, love your combos!! Do you think I can pull off a short short and what kind of neckline suits me?

My suggestions to her were:
After seeing the picture that you have sent to me, it seems that you are petite. Also you are heavier on your upper body than your lower body. As per this you have an apple shape figure.

Wearing short shorts requires a lot of confidence as you know attitude makes all the difference :). I would suggest that you wear shorts that reach mid thigh and have a straight cut as this gives the illusion of slim and longer thighs. Wear the fitting variety and not the baggy variety as the baggy ones will make you look shorter. Also make sure you choose solid colours. Avoid shorts with big pockets.

Necklines also should be well chosen so that you don't look heavier on the top. The challenge is to create an impression of a lighter looking upper body. The classic V and U necks are the best bet. Other than that you should try low scoop necks. Halter and Sleeveless tops with a little shoulder show would look really nice.

Jasmine's appreciative response to the suggestions made my day :)
Those tips are really useful, I'm gonna go through my closet =]
I think now is the perfect time (with the summer sales) to look for those shorts you advised, thank you so much!
Again thanks for your time.
