Bangalore - A city waiting with myriad experiences for you!

Having lived in Bangalore for 4 years of my life, let me tell you that the Silicon Valley of India is not only about multi-national organizations and a forever on-the-move, cosmopolitan crowd. Bangalore is a treasure trove of offbeat activities across the city - from heritage walks to adventure sports to gourmet experiences. If you are visiting Bangalore, my suggestion would be to ditch the common sightseeing spots and schedule your itinerary with activities like micro-light flying, wine tours, meditation programs and more, and enjoy a vacation that in every way will be unique.

Many people wonder what is the best time to visit a destination, and thankfully Bangalore is blessed with awesome weather around the year, though you may want to give the period between April to June a miss if you want to avoid the high heat of the plateau region. However, you must book your accommodation in advance since there is a rush around the year. Business hotels like Howard Johnson or Aloft Bangalore are a good choice if you are the type who prefers on-point services, or you can opt for one of the numerous resorts in Bangalore for some luxurious pampering.

If you are visiting Bangalore, here are seven things you can do for a vacation like no other!
  1. Go for a wine tour at night - The Grover Zampa vineyards offer this exciting activity across the 400 acres of their farm. In case you are not a night person, there are a host of vineyards around the city which offer wine tasting tours, where you can even stay back for the weekend.
  2. Indulge in some walking around - If you are the type to go for conventional sightseeing at least once, then why not do it a little differently and go for a Heritage Walk? I personally love the Green Heritage Walk at Lalbagh Garden, and the Victorian Bangalore walk which is a 19th century history walk on MG road.
  3. Go camping or trekking - There are too many trekking and camping spots around Bangalore to keep you busy for at least a year. The nearest and simplest one could be a night camp at Kanakapura, only 50 km away from Bangalore, or a night trek at Ramanagara - also known for the village where Sholay was shot!
  4. Go watch some drama - Yes, literally! Head to Rangashankara or Jagriti for a dose of good ol’ theatre.
  5. Head out for a flight - Areas around Jakkur and Yelahanka are dotted with flying institutes offering micro-light flying sessions for the general public - and those of you who have already indulged in it, know exactly the level of adrenaline rush it involves!
  6. Try mountain climbing - Bangalore is filled with activities scheduled around nights for a surreal feel, and one of them involves going for a mountain climbing session at Shivgange!
  7. Get a break from life at Pyramid Valley - Head here for a session of meditation and soulful healing at the end of a tiring day to end it on the right note.

Visiting Bangalore is literally a piece of cake with numerous airlines flying into it daily, with multiple schedules from across the country. No reason why you should wait - just pack your bags and head there! And do not forget to share your experiences with me!
